Restore Your Missing or Damaged Teeth with High-quality Dental Bridges and Crowns

Dental crowns are a staple of many dentists’ offices. They are a standard treatment due, in part, to their versatility. They can be used to rebuild and preserve a decayed or broken tooth or play a vital role in replacing teeth. They can also be paired with a dental bridge to replace one or multiple missing teeth.

Robert T. Warring, DMD, Family and Implant Dentistry, is thrilled to offer top-notch dental crowns and bridges in Georgetown, Kentucky. We combine excellent craftsmanship with premium materials to create restorations that offer unrivaled comfort, functionality, and aesthetics.

What are crowns exactly?

Also known as “caps,” dental crowns are designed to fit, feel, and look like natural teeth. The crown protects and strengthens a tooth with decay, fractures, or other trauma. As mentioned, it is also used to replace a single or several teeth as part of a dental bridge or implant restoration.

Placing a dental crown requires at least two dental visits. During the first appointment, your Georgetown dentist inspects and prepares your tooth by reshaping the enamel to fit a crown. Then, he takes impressions of your tooth and sends the scan to a dental lab to custom-create your crown. Until your bridge is ready, the dentist covers your tooth with a temporary restoration.

During your second visit, Dr. Warring will inspect the fit and appearance of your crown. A few minor adjustments may be necessary until everything looks and feels right. Finally, the dentist uses durable adhesives to bond your crown in place.

What is a dental bridge?

A bridge is appropriate for patients missing several teeth in a row. A traditional bridge requires at least two dental crowns. The crowns are secured to the remaining teeth on either side of the gap. They are fused to the artificial tooth (or teeth) to make the dental bridge.

The bridge is then cemented to the neighboring teeth. Once secured, the bridge fills in the gap by replacing the teeth. The crowned anchor teeth support or hold up the dental bridge. This process involves preparing or reducing the anchor teeth. A temporary dental bridge is also worn until our lab completes the permanent one. Once that bridge is ready, we secure it to the anchor or abutment teeth.

Dental bridges

A bridge is a non-surgical way to replace one or many teeth. A bridge uses the adjacent teeth as anchors to support the missing tooth or teeth. With today’s dental advancements, a bridge can be fabricated in a fairly short period of time, using a metal or nonmetal foundation. Don’t let that missing tooth affect the way you speak, eat, and smile. Bridges yield immediate results that last a lifetime. Ask your dentist what type of bridge may be right for you.
